Patient examination

General examination

The general condition of patients is examined before implantation: whether the patient has diseases affecting qualitative and quantitative bone characteristics (diabetes, rheumatics, arteriosclerosis, tumours, etc.), disorders of the immune system, cardio-vascular diseases (stenocardia, arrhythmia, hypertonic disease), allergic reactions, mental illnesses, etc.

Local examination

The height and width of the alveolar ridge is measured during the first visit, as well as mobility of mucous membrane, its blood circulation and thickness, adjacent and antagonist teeth and occlusion are evaluated. Next, an X-ray examination is performed consisting of orthopanthomography, dental X-rays and, if needed, computer tomography. Last, an evaluation is made regarding the bone qualitative and quantitative condition, and localisation of other anatomic formations (of nervous fibre, blood vessels, sinus and nasal cavities).
